So the one thing I am always concerned about when it comes to my Droid X is security. I want to make sure that applications aren’t getting information that I don’t want them to get. Ever since I first discovered them on my first BlackBerry device, I have always been a big fan of SmrtGuard, the application that helps make your device very secure. My good friend Rob Kao the CEO of SmrtGuard just informed me about a new feature that they will be rolling out very soon the the Android version of SmrtGuard. This new feature is called App Transparency!
What is App Transparency? App transparency allows you to better manage your privacy by giving you insight on what permissions applications have are requesting. This will allow you to determine if an application is running properly or not. . If you think an app is suspicious, App Transparency allows you to delete it or contact SmrtGuard about it. Imagine if you had downloaded a game or a animated wall paper application, however, that application is asking for ability to read your SMS or MMS. Without SmrtGuard’s App Transparency, you typically would accept any permission an app is asking for. With SmrtGuard’s App Transparency, it shows you this information allowing you to be aware of it.
The minimum OS requirement is OS 2.2 Froyo. Download and enjoy!
