Apple Sues Samsung Over Galaxy Phones And Tab

Reports have surfaced today that Apple is suing Samsung over the Galaxy phones,Tabs, as well as the Nexus S and Epic 4G.  Apple is claiming that Samsung has copied the “look and feel” of their devices and merely tooled and branded them to fit onto the Android platform.  Here is what Apple’s claim is;

“Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products.”

There hasn’t been any official statements made by either company at this point, but you can expect something to surface rather quickly.  Now I understand that the Galaxy S II can be looked at like an iPhone-esque phone, but in no way would I refer to it as a copy of the “look and feel”.  And I assume that Apple thinks that the TouchWiz UI is a blatant copy of their iOS, but does that mean that they are also going to go after MIUI developers as well, as personally I believe it to look more like an iPhone that TouchWiz does.

I have no doubt that this will get settled out of court as neither manufacturer probably likes the idea of being caught up in litigation for the next few years.  Does this mean though that we might see a whole new UI or skin from Samsung if they are forced to abandon the TouchWiz look?  Only time will tell, and we will bring you all and any news we hear.
