During the Android Q&A after the keynote at Google IO today Andy Rubin has been bombarded with question regarding Ice Cream Sandwich and what requirements it will entail. One of the major questions on everyone’s minds is whether or not it will work on our current devices, one of the questions was “will Ice Cream Sandwich require phones with more processing power now that the complex holographic UI is confirmed to be making its way to phones? The answer – maybe, maybe not.” Considering Google has just announced they are creating a team to deal with update guidelines for devices let’s hope it does.
What Rubin did confirm during this Q&A is that Google is working on another phone, ie Nexus, that will blow the socks off everyone, and wil be able able to hands Ice Cream Sandwich with ease. Now this is very interesting, and the speculation now can begin on who is building the next Nexus device, and will be dual-core or even better. I would imagine that we won’t hear anything else on a new Nexus device for some time now, especially since Ice Cream Sandwich isn’t expected to release until Q4 of this year.
