If there is one thing there never seems to be enough of, it is time. From your day to day activities and running around trying to find the time for fun and excitement, sometimes you can lose track of it and fall victim to that phrase “if only there was more time”. Well SPB has decided to make an Android app that will help you keep track of time no matter where you are, or what you are doing. SPB first grabbed our attention with their SPB Shell Launcher that brought a whole new 3D look to an Android replacement launcher, and now with SPB Time for Android they have struck gold again.

SPB Time is an advanced, skinnable time toolbox for your phone. Analog and digital clock modes, world clock, stopwatch, countdown timers, moon calendar,and advanced alarms. A lot of time-related functions in this world’s bestselling application.

At first I was a little wary of yet another clock app that would in the end become something that I occasionally use, but never really had the need for. SPB Time was a pleasant surprise that not only provided me with some usable clock widgets that were not intrusive on my screen, but also some very useful tools that helped me keep track of everything from setting alarms as reminders for meetings to keeping track easily of what time it was for my friends that are half way across the globe. Let’s take a more detailed look at the time toolbox that is SPB Time for Android.

Software Features

Bio Alarm

If you want a gentle way to wake you up, the Bio alarming mode is for you. In thismode you will get a friendly alarm, lights, and ticks before the actual alarm time toget you in the mood of getting up. Waking up to gentle sound of birds or watermay just make you want to go right.

Paranoid Alarm

If you are the kind of person who can’t get up to a regular alarm when the alarm first goes off, then you can use the Paranoid alarming option. In the Paranoid alarming mode the alarm won’t stop until you solve the puzzle correctly or smashyour phone.

Widgets

SPB Time provides you with many home screen widgets that you can add for aquick access.

World Clock

This feature is very useful for world travelers. You can constantly monitor the timein four different locations on one page.

Skins

SPB Time has a verity of skins that you can apply to the program. You candownload and install more skins from SPB Time skins gallery at no cost. The skins configure your analog and digital clock faces, hands, digits, and background. An Internet connection is required.

Stopwatch

The Stopwatch screen allows you to run the stopwatch with multiple lap time support. Once you have used thestopwatch and recorded laps then you can save your lap records to external files.

Snooze

Snooze button automatically resets your alarm to a specified amount of time when the snooze button is tapped.You can shake your phone to snooze the alarm as well

Personally I need a loud and what some may call annoying alarm to wake up in the morning, but I really enjoyed the fact that SPB took the time to incorporate a more soothing Bio Alarm into the app. The gentle sounds of water and birds would definitely make for a pleasant wake up if you are the type of person that would enjoy the sound of nature in the morning, On the other side of the spectrum the Paranoid Alarm will truly force to wake up and solve that puzzle, otherwise the alarm will continue to go off for what seems an eternity.

The option to apply multiple different skins also allowed me to tailor the app to my personal style and preference, and while some of the skins are not to my taste to say the least, there are a number of well laid out skins that would make anyone happy. The Moon Calendar is also a nice addition, and while not important to everyone, any of you amateur star gazers out there will really enjoy the ability to place a small widget on one of your homescreens to keep track of the lunar phase.

The Stopwatch could be confused as your everyday stopwatch, but it includes one very nice feature and that is the lap tracker. As the stopwatch keeps track of time ticking away, you can easily tap the “lap” button to record lap times. This can come in handy if you are currently participating in a particular workout routine, or maybe you are a race fan and want to keep track of the lap times of your favorite driver. No matter how you decide to use it, the lap tracking feature is a nice addition to this app.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised with what SPB Time for Android brought to the table. The plethora of options that have been worked into what is at it’s core, a time app, make it a very useful and usable app. As someone that doesn’t necessarily use, or truly like, most apps that provide an alternative clock or alarm I would actually buy SPB Time as I feel that it makes life a little easier as time ticks away.
