Android Tablets Grab 20 Percent of Market Share

There is no shortage of tablets in the industry, now you can see them daily.  No surprise really, you can perform most function of a laptop on a tablet.  Even going online without wifi is very common.  So where does the industry stand again the beast company known as “Apple”…..

The Android market share is rising, and doing so in a hurry.  The problem is that Apple has such a huge fan base that even with the soaring growth of the Android OS, it is still not a huge burden on Apple.  In the last 12 months, the Android makers collectively have taken 20 of the market share from Apple.

The numerous makers even with their awesome power and impressive styles, graphics and power still have not made the “iPad Killer”.  iPad is still the unicorn or the tablets.  Android current has “no less than three” software builds for tablets. That’s bad news for app developers, who may delay development of an Android app if the market potential isn’t there.

ABI Research analyst Jeff Orr says:

“De-featured, low-cost media tablets are being introduced by more than fifty vendors in 2011,”

“This will certainly help bolster year-over-year growth for the category, but it also creates a negative perception in the minds of the mass consumer audience about the readiness of media tablets to be fully functional within the next several years,”

Smaller and less expensive Tablets may help the Apple competitors in the race as some people are wanting smaller and less expensive, but not cheaper.
