Rogers expands their LTE coverage around Montreal

Rogers has announced today that they are expanding their LTE coverage in Montreal to include the outlying areas.  In this new expansion areas such as Laval, Terrebonne, Brossard, Longueuil, and Vaudreuil will now have LTE coverage if you are so lucky to have a LTE enabled phone or rocket stick.  While LTE is still fairly new in Canada all the major carriers are doing their best to provide the service in the most populated areas.

Rogers is leading the pack at this point, as they seem to be putting more effort into getting LTE coverage to the nation, however due to the sheer land mass of Canada this will prove to be difficult in some areas.  The majority of the population is concentrated in several major cities across the country.  For example Ottawa has LTE coverage, and while I technically live within the city of Ottawa, I do not have LTE coverage at my house as I live in a very rural area.

With more and more expansion LTE is going to become more feasible for some customers to switch over to, but I am guessing that we will not see mass coverage in Canada until the next evolution of LTE networks.  If you are a Rogers customer in the Montreal area and this added coverage will reach you, make sure you look over the LTE plans and phones carefully before making the jump as they will usually cost you a little more per month.
