Back in 2010, the FCC suggestedvthe fact that a text message to a 911 operator could save lives. Especially, for hostage situations or the hearing disabled.
Verizon says they won’t have this service ready until around the beginning of 2013, at the soonest. This being said, they are setting a milestone in the mobile industry by being the first wireless carrier to announce this 911 SMS service.
