Verizon’s Galaxy S III looks to have a protected bootloader

I’m not sure what to say about all this and how I feel about it.  I know the outcome will be a success in the long run but as Jerry Hildenbrand from Android Central says “Oh Verizon, why must you constantly mess with perfection?”  And it’s completely dead on.  Why mess with it?  Hit the break for more.

So this phone won’t ever get root?  No, that’s not what this means.  It just means that it won’t be as easy as once thought.  Odin might need an update to break on through to the other side.  Its unknown why they locked it down, it’s still being investigated for clarification.  So, if you were planning on buying and rooting in the same day you are SOL but do not fret; we have seen other phones with the same “problem” such as the LG Esteem who was patched like a brand new roof.

If there is a way, the community will find it, regardless of a protected bootloader.
