If you own and operate a small business with employees it can sometimes be difficult to keep track of every single one of them. If your business is just starting up, hiring a manager for each site may not be feasible from the beginning. mTimeCard.com contacted us to do a review on it and we were happy to help! When I saw this app my very first thought was construction companies. They have multiple sites with multiple employees. Let’s not get it mistaken though – that was just my first thought. Even AndroidNerds could use this. Check out their video then hit the break for the rest of the review.
Setting up my test venue was a breeze and was completed in 4 simple steps. There was nothing complicated about it. Add site name, add shift, add worker and add location – done. I have literally spent more time making coffee. Once the initial setup is done you download it to your Android or iOS device, input a PIN given by the system and your worker is set up and ready to clock in and out.
Once your Settings > Location and Security > Location On is set the phone’s GPS will find you and allow you to start work. The benefit of this is you show where you clocked in at. No more clocking in at Starbucks if your running late, this setting can be changed to allow anywhere. If you look at the picture above is in 24hr time so just keep that in mind when setting up your venue. That’s it for your employee (it even says have a nice day!)
On the manager side of the site isn’t much more complicated. You can see when your employees checked in and out and where. Not only when and where but each time they do as well. This means you can track patterns and trends of employees. The lazy will be found and eliminated by their own actions. It’s perfect!
The venue is location-based and used from Google Maps which means you can go straight down to street level. You can set it that way or drag a tab to where it is supposed to go.
From here you can view reports which bring it back to the check-in/out screen. I like this since it doesn’t go really deep. Simplicity is the goal here….
The final item to go over is the worker list. It shows each worker with the last check-in/out time but just the last one made. You can view individual reports very easily right from that screen with the ability to export to .CSV for MS-Excel. This is pretty important because payroll software uses .CSV to import the information for your employees to be paid….after all that’s why they are doing this.
The software allows one venue free (unlimited subscription), if you have more than one it integrates with PayPal for a small monthly fee. I am super impressed with this app. It’s lean
and clean. There is no padding to it. It’s a very welcome addition to Google Play and something that every company should look into before buying any software for the same thing.
