Motorola Mobility Comes to its Senses; Unlocks Bootloaders

Motorola has long been known for their devices being of great quality. On the other hand, they were locked down so tight, you would think they were Fort Knox! Being a former Moto user myself, I was very excited to see this coming across the wire.

In a short blog post by Motorola earlier today, they outlined that starting with the upcoming Photon Q device, all future bootloaders will be unlocked or unlockable. Most likely, this will eventually trickle down to some of today’s Moto devices via an unlock tool not unlike HTC’s version.

This is what Motorola Mobility had to say about all this exciting news:

For months now we’ve been working closely with our developers and carrier partners to provide users a way to to unlock the bootloader on their Motorola Mobility device while keeping the networks secure and satisfying carriers’ requirements. And we’ve finally found a solution.

What will the future hold for Android and Motorola? Amazing things. We’ll just have to wait and see! Will your RAZR get an

unlock tool? Keep it here for more!
